Define Landscape gardening
It is an Art and Science of decoration of a tract of land with ornamental plants and other garden materials so as to produce a picturesque and naturalistic effect.
The naturally existing features like undulations, terraces as well as plain surfaces are used to give a natural effect.
Landscape gardening
It may be described as the application of garden forms, methods and materials with a view to improving the landscape. The art of designing is known as “Landscape Architecture,” although the older term “Landscape gardening” is also popular.
Define Ornamental Gardens
In planning a garden, several factors like the size of the house, the space available for the garden, availability of water, the cost of laying the garden and its maintenance, have to be taken into consideration.
A garden is planned primarily to suit the tastes of the people of the household and locality. There is no rigid system in garden planning and each system is open to modification to suit the environment and other factors.

- A garden needs to be one’s own creation and not an imitation, giving due thought to the native atmosphere.

- Incorporate landscape plants as well as trees as per their landscape value and utility.
- Attempting an excessive amount in a little place should be avoided.
- The design allocated to each area should be functional and convenient access.
